The Hungarian silver factory, Szandrik, opened its doors in 1895 in the village of Alsóhámor. It was famous for its metal and silversmith objects at the beginning of the 20th century. The factory regularly featured its modern-style products at art exhibitions. After 1918 the firm became Czechoslovakian and changed its name to “Sandrik”. It operated until World War II. In 1993 Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia and one year later Sandrik reopened as a Slovak firm.
