This glass bowl with stand is from pressed glass. It fits perfectly in every vintage tableware collection. The footed bowl is not only a wonderful decoration, but it is a great kitchen accessory as well. You can create a focal point with this glass bowl with stand and put fruits, biscuits, candies, or small snacks in it. It has a few sharp cuts in it, which gives the bowl a nice look. The bowl is flawed, it has a crack in the middle, but it is fully usable. It is probably from Hungary, but the exact provenance and age are unknown.
The beginning of producing pressed glass items dates back to 1850. These glasswares were manufactured in cast-iron moulds and were marketed as an economical alternative to hand-cut crystals. They were also cheaper, so they quickly became popular. Manufacturers had to make many patterns to stand out from each other.
